Ceiling mural for pub
The Devonshire, a popular pub in the heart of Soho, London, is renowned for serving one of the best pints of Guinness in the city. At the centre of the pub is the Green Room — the heart of the space — a lively, artistic environment filled with energy, music, and creativity. I was commissioned to design and paint a custom mural that would capture this vibrant spirit and reflect the unique character of this space.
Capturing the Spirit of Soho’s Green Room
The goal of the project was to create a mural that matched the dynamic atmosphere of the Green Room. I began by developing four distinct design concepts, each aimed at capturing the energy, color, and movement of the space. Due to the room’s dim lighting, we chose a final design that used bold, vivid colors—ensuring the mural would remain striking and visible even in low light.
The final composition is intentionally dynamic and expressive, reflecting the room’s constant buzz and the lively crowd it draws. The space itself is filled with eclectic paintings, bursts of green and red, and a rich artistic presence—all of which I considered carefully in the mural’s layout and color scheme.
Mural Painting Process
I created three murals for the space, with each mural taking two intensive night shifts to complete, each shift lasting between 12 and 14 hours. Working overnight allowed for uninterrupted progress while the pub remained fully functional during the day. Great care was taken to protect all existing artworks and the custom-made carpet, ensuring the space was left spotless and professionally finished.

A Living Piece of Art in London’s Pub Scene
This mural project at The Devonshire in Soho is a celebration of color, creativity, and the vibrant social energy that defines one of London’s most iconic pubs. It’s more than just wall art—it’s a living extension of the atmosphere that makes the Green Room so special.
